WILDFIRE ROARS encaustic multi-media Artist Statement Marilyn Barrington

A fire starts at Wooroloo quickly becoming a Wildfire spreading throughout the surrounding area.

The wildfire Roars up the escarpment and across the valleys raining charred debri over the land, devouring everything in its path until it is finally brought under control by the efforts of brave firefighters.

The effect on country, homes, animals and beautiful natural bush is devastating all charred beyond recognition.

Silence remains. The land will return to its former glory in time it is the way of the Australian Bush an untamed land.

This encaustic (beeswax & resin) on watercolour paper portrays the fire raining down on the land leaving a barren landscape behind and a cockatoo with the loss of its mate.

The 2 part frame conveys the separation of families from their homes unable to return and inspect the damage.
