COCKATOOS IN CRISIS encaustic mixed media 95cm x 95cm

Entered at the COSSACK ART AWARDS 2023

My art reflects my concern for the flora and fauna that is in threat of extinction due to climate change and land clearing be it from fire or human destruction.

Artist statement

Land clearing and wildfires are destroying the habitat of Cockatoos of the Southern Forests. These iconic birds are in crisis.

My art portrays Cockatoos vanishing from sight while the  destruction of habitat continues.

Inks , charcoal,  pastels were applied to a prepared board creating a base for many layers of Beeswax & damar resin with pigment creating  texture and depth.

My art reflects an emotional connection to the environment and current events.
